Commentary on Psalms - Volume 5

John Calvin · scripture, bible-commentary

Psalm 148

Praise ye Jehovah from the heavens; Praise him in the heights.

Praise him, all ye his angels! Praise him, all ye his armies!

Praise him, ye Sun and Moon! Praise him, all ye shining stars!

Praise him, ye heavens of heavens! And ye waters above the heavens!

Let them praise the name of Jehovah; For he commanded and they were created:

And he established them for ever: For ever he hath set for them a decree, and it shall not pass beyond.

Praise Jehovah, ye creatures from the earth! Dragons, and all deeps!

Fire and hail, snow and ice! Wind of storm, executing his word!

Mountains, and all hills! The tree bearing fruit, and all cedars!

Wild beasts, and all cattle! Reptile, and winged birds!

Kings of the earth, and all peoples! Princes, and all judges of the earth!

Young men, and also maidens! Old men with children!

Let them praise the name of Jehovah; For high is his name alone; His praise is above the earth and heavens.

And he hath exalted the horn of his people: Praise is to all his merciful ones, To the children of Israel, A people which is near to him. Hallelujah.
