Commentary on Psalms - Volume 5

John Calvin · scripture, bible-commentary

Psalm 123

1To thee will I lift up mine eyes, [O thou] who dwellest in the heavens!

2Behold! as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters; As the eyes of a handmaid look to the hand of her mistress, So our eyes [look] to Jehovah our God, Until he have mercy upon us.

3Have mercy upon us, O Jehovah! have mercy upon us; For we are exceedingly filled with reproach.

4Exceedingly filled in itself is our soul With the mockery of the rich, With the contempt of the proud.
