Commentary on Psalms - Volume 5

1He who dwelleth in the secret place of the Most High, Under the shadow of the Almighty shall abide.

2I will say to Jehovah, “Thou art my hope and my fortress:” He is my God; I will hope in him.

3Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, From the noxious pestilence:

4With his wings he shall protect thee; And under his feathers thou shalt be safe; Thy shield and thy bucklershall be his truth.

5Thou shalt not be afraid at the terror of the night; At the arrow which flieth by day;

6At the destruction which in darkness walketh: At the pestilence which wasteth at noon-day.

7There shall fall at thy side a thousand, And ten thousand at thy right hand: To thee it shall not come nigh.

8Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold, And the reward of the ungodly thou shalt see.

9Because thou, O Jehovah! art my protection; The Most High thou hast made thy refuge.

10There shall not befall thee [any] evil, And the plague shall not come nigh thy tabernacle:

11For to his angels he hath given charge concerning thee, To keep thee in all thy ways.

12Upon their hands they shall bear thee, Lest thou dash against a stone thy foot.

13Over the lion and asp thou shalt walk; Thou shalt tread upon the young lion and dragon.

14Because on me he hath reposed, I will deliver him; I will exalt him because he hath known my name.

15He will call upon me, and I will answer him: With him will I be in trouble; I will deliver him, and will glorify him.

16With length of days will I satisfy him, And will show him my salvation.
