Commentary on Psalms - Volume 5

1Exult, ye righteous! in Jehovah: For to the upright comely is praise.

2Celebrate Jehovah upon the harp; Upon the nablure, ³²¹ and instrument of ten strings, sing psalms to him

3Sing to him a song that is new; Ardently sing with shouting.

4For right is the word of Jehovah, And all his works are in faithfulness.

5He loveth righteousness and judgment: Of the goodness of Jehovah fill is the earth.

6By the word of Jehovah the heavens were established, And by the breath of his mouth all their host.

7He gathered together as an heap the waters of the sea; He laid up as in treasure houses the deeps.

8Let all the earth fear Jehovah; Of him let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe.

9For he spake, and it was; He commanded, and it stood.

10Jehovah scattereth the counsel of the Gentiles, He rendereth fruitless the imaginations of the peoples.

11The counsel of Jehovah for ever shall stand, The thoughts of his heart from age to age.

12Blessed is the people to whom Jehovah is their God, The people whom he hath chosen for: in inheritance to himself.

13From heavens looked down hath Jehovah, He hath beheld all the sons of Adam.

14From the dwelling place of His throne, He hath looked on all the inhabitants of the earth.

15He who hath fashioned together their hearts, Who understandeth all their works.

16There is not a king saved by the multitude of an host, Nor a giant rescued by greatness of strength.

17Fallacious is a horse for safety, And by the greatness of his strength he will not deliver.

18Behold! the eye of Jehovah is upon those who fear him, [Upon those] who hope in his mercy;

19To rescue from death their souls, To keep them alive in famine.

20Our soul waiteth for Jehovah: Our help and our shield is he.

21Surely in him rejoice shall our heart, Because in his holy name we will trust.

22Let thy mercy be upon us, O Jehovah! According as we have trusted in thee.
